- Hirst’s Farm Shop

Harvesting a fresh website for a local farm shop

Who They Are

Hirst’s Farm Shop and Cafe is a local family-run farm shop specialising in high-quality, seasonal produce from the region’s best suppliers. Their vision is to provide sustainably-sourced produce, hand-reared meat, and seasonal staples to the community of Great Yarmouth.

We originally began working with the Hirst family through our paid advertising campaigns with Hirsty’s Family Fun Park, a local family attraction. Then through the seasonality of their work at the fun park, we switched our focus to their farm shop.

The Process

After supporting with the build of the Hirst’s Farm Shop website at the start of the year, we knew the importance of expanding their reach and optimising for key search terms. Knowing the Hirst’s businesses well and the seasonal nature of their work, we began looking at keywords the site was currently ranking for and how we could further increase their brand position.

We began making aesthetic site changes to suit with seasonality – first beginning with Autumn and then adding more Christmassy touches to the site. This involved adjusting website copy and imagery used, as well as adding motifs to the logo and banner images.

We then wanted to look at furthering their reach online using SEO. Hirst’s Farm Shop has a wealth of suppliers and supporters that we were able to link to the site. The Yawn team also began carefully crafting blog posts on the team, their ethos, and about the sustainability of farm-to-fork produce.

The Results

Since beginning work on the site’s SEO rankings, we’ve seen their visibility on Google increase and positioning rise for the chosen keywords. We’ve also seen referral traffic rise through focussed outreach campaigns and innovative ideas.
